I am big on sharing knowledge and information as I believe it is best for everyone to be abreast with what is current and the digital age makes this easier but you have to do this the legal way. Rita is an Intellectual Property (IP) and Information Technology (IT) lawyer from Nigeria and was recently listed in the 2020 WIPR Influential Women in IP Trailblazer! She provides advisory, advocacy and transactional legal services to a broad spectrum of local and foreign clients. She has cognate experience in projects concerning data protection and privacy, media law, copyright, trademarks and patent. Rita holds a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property and Information Technology from the University of Derby UK. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Section on Business Law Committee on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution, Information and Communications Technology, and Intellectual Property; member of National Institute of Management; and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Nigeria Branch. Rita is also a co-contributor to the 6th edition of the International Comparative Legal Guide on Data Protection 2019. She has a podcast called IP SERIES on Anchor.fm which is also distributed on Spotify, PoketCast and Breaker, with a twitter series where she talks about intellectual property. She also has a group for lawyers called “Building a community” who meet weekly to network and have conversations on various topics ranging from career, relationship to things happening globally and also a group called IPHUB for intellectual property enthusiast In her spare time, Rita enjoys travelling and tutoring.
